Detect and avoid technology is a key requirement for BVLOS operations under Part 107 and 108 regulations. Part 108 will soon be implemented by the FAA. Casia G is a stationary AI-powered optical surveillance system developed originally by Iris Automation and now integrated into UAvionix’ s portfolio. It continuously scans the airspace in 360° to detect both cooperative (ADS B/transponder-equipped) and non cooperative aircraft, issuing real time alerts to drone pilots or flight control systems. The v4.0 software release adds nighttime aircraft detection, enabling Casia G to support 24/7 BVLOS operations up to 400 ft altitude—without hardware changes. UAvionix already has FAA approval for nighttime BVLOS use in jurisdictions like Fort Wayne, IN.
